Nuclear is Coming

Hey fellow ambitious human 👋

I built a simple web app, check it out here: caloriecompass.xyz. And I couldn’t have done it without this week’s 1 Key Resource.

Nuclear is having another moment. But this time, Amazon and multiple major US banks are getting involved.

Today’s Cookmarks🔥

  1. The nuclear renaissance continues! In the future we’re either all going to have unlimited clean energy, or super-powers. And if you look at it that way it’s a win-win, and I refuse to look at it any other way.

Bill Gurley reposted this tweet that shows Amazon taking steps toward developing its own SMRs (Small Modular Reactors,) signalling a major shift in how tech giants are approaching their energy needs in the face of AI's growing demands.

Could AI indirectly solve climate change by speeding up the transition to nuclear power? Is it a good idea to give AI access to nuclear reactors?

  1. Seriously, nuclear is coming.

The capital influx into the industry from tech giants and major financial institutions backing nuclear power could mean significant acceleration in the industry’s growth.

Fun fact: about 58% of Ontario’s energy came from nuclear reactors in 2021.

Nuclear Energy is innevitable as evidenced by Amazon and Major US financial institutions getting involved
  1. The media’s negative bias is well documented so we won’t delve deeply into that but it goes without saying that if you base your worldview entirely on the headlines, you’re going to think it’s all going to shit.

The article referenced in the tweet is an interesting case study on some of the complexities that come along with the clean energy transition —especially for developing nations.

More countries moving toward clean energy sources is an objectively good thing. On the flip side — there is a clear, and maybe unavoidable, case of the wealthy reaping the early benefits of the transition by being able to afford solar tech and move away from Pakistan’s souped up but increasingly expensive power-grid, while the poor foot the bill.

It’s not as dire as, “Chinese solar panel boom threatens Pakistan’s debt-ridden grid” but it is slightly more complex than, “Allah has given us this gift to get out of this mess.”

    Seriously, renewable energy is coming.

  1. An internal hiring document at Mr. Beast’s company recently went viral. And it’s a treasure trove of insights from one of the most successful internet entrepreneurs out there.

Check Ben Lang’s one-pager on the memo above and read the full internal document here. Whether you're a content creator, marketer, or anything else there's a ton of value in here.

  1. No matter what you’re working on or doing in your life, you could stand to be more persuasive.

Here are the 6 Principles of Persuasion, from the book “Influence” by Professor of Psychology and Marketing, Robert B. Cialdini:

    – Reciprocity

    – Commitment

    – Social Proof

    – Authority

    – Liking

    – Scarcity

1 Key Ingredient 🧪

Time is now your only constraint.

Below I’ve linked to v0 — an AI-powered assistant that helps you build the key component of any websites and application — The User Interface.

v0 can understand your ideas and turn them into working code, explain complex concepts in simple terms, and guide you through the entire process of building a website.

This program is an assistant that can design, in seconds, any User Interface you can describe.
